The city of Aarhus (Århus) is the second largest city in Denmark with about 280,000 inhabitants.

Aarhus is situated on the peninsula Jutland about 3-3 1/2 hrs' drive by car or train - or 35 min. by plane - from Copenhagen.

Aarhus Airport/Tirstrup is connected with Copenhagen International Airport with about 8 daily departures on weekdays and 5-7 departures on Saturdays and Sundays. The flight takes 35 minutes. In Copenhagen a free transit bus links the International and Domestic airport terminals. You save about one hour of travelling by taking the plane from Copenhagen to Aarhus rather than the train when you include the transportation to and from the airports, but as there are many more train connections you might get there earlier (and save money) by taking the train (see below). See timetable for the trains: http://www.rejseplanen.dk/bin/query.exe/en? and the airplanes.
In connection with the majority of flights, there is an airport bus service between Aarhus Airport and Aarhus. The bus leaves immediately after the passengers have picked up their luggage. There are predefined stops along the route (including the University of Aarhus). Tickets are sold on the bus. Accepted currencies are: Norwegian Crowns, US Dollars, Pounds and Euro. Major Credit Cards are also accepted - see price and timetable.
Billund Airport, 100 km southwest of Aarhus, has several direct international flight connections:
for example: Frankfurt, London (Stanstead), Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Munich
There is a bus service from Billund to Aarhus. Travelling time from Billund Airport to Aarhus City is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Tickets are sold on the bus to be paid in cash. The bus stops in Aarhus at Radisson Blue Hotel/Scandinavian Center in the centre of the city - a few minutes' walk from the main railway station. There are around 10 airport buses from Billund for Aarhus, so if you have to wait too long for the airport bus to Aarhus another option is to take the airport bus from Billund to Vejle, where you can then take a train from Vejle to Aarhus or take a taxi.
Hamburg in Germany has several international flight connections and is only about 3 hrs' drive from Aarhus.
Aarhus University is located at the university campus not far fra the centre of town.

A freeway links Aarhus directly with Germany and thereby most European cities. Aarhus is about three hours' drive from Hamburg. Coming from south, get off at junction 50 to Aarhus S/C and drive another 18 km. Where the motorway ends at a traffic light, turn left onto Viby/Aaby Ringvej and drive another ca. 7 km until you come to a major traffic light and turn right towards the centre of town. After another 1 1/2 km you see the yellow brick buildings of the University of Aarhus.
Aarhus has hourly train service to and from Copenhagen Airport and the centre of Aarhus (3 1/2 hours) and several daily connections to Sweden, Germany and the rest of Europe. DSB, the Danish State Railways, provide a Journey Planner (http://www.rejseplanen.dk/bin/query.exe/en?). Here you can search for connections both within Denmark, and between Denmark and its neighbouring countries by train and bus.
Aarhus Harbour has ferry and hydrofoil connections to Copenhagen with Molslinien via "Sjaellands Odde" (or Ebeltoft) or Kalundborg. From Scandinavian countries you can go by ferry to Frederikshavn or Grenaa and from there by bus or train to Aarhus. There is also a ferry connection from England to Denmark.
Opposite the main entrance of the train station you will find the yellow city busses. The city busses numbers 4 and 24 (direction "Frydenlund") and 7 (direction "Charlottehøj") and 26 (direction "Skejby Sygehus"), which leave regularly, will take you very close to the Department of Molecular Biology.
Bus no. 7, direction "Charlottehøj" and bus no. 26 direction "Skejby Sygehus". Get off at the first stop on Paludan Müllersvej after a 8 min. drive (announced as Kaserneboulevarden). Cross the street and walk down Kaserneboulevarden about 100 m and turn left down C.F. Moellers Alle, where you'll find the campus section of the department on the left. To find the Science Park section you continue on bus no. 7 another stop (Forskerparken), turn right down Gustav Wieds Vej, where the Science Park is located 50 m down the road.
It is also possible to go by bus no. 4, or bus no. 24 direction "Frydenlund" and get off at "Ny Munkegade" (this is announced as Fynsgade). From here it is only a short walk to CF. Moellers Alle. To find the Science Park section you take the bus another two stops and follow the instructions above.
Research Centre Foulum is located between Viborg and Randers close to main road 16. There is a sign for Aarhus Universitet on the main road. See map of Research Centre Foulum.
