International recognition for Suresh Rattan

The Executive Council of the European region of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG-ER) has unanimously elected Dr Suresh Rattan at the Department of Molecular Biology, Aarhus University, as the next President of its Biological Section.

Suresh Rattan was nominated for this honour by the gerontological societies of Denmark, Ireland and Russia, and was endorsed by 37 member societies in Europe at the Executive Council meeting during the 7th IAGG-ER Congress, held in Bologna in Italy (14-17 April 2011). The presidency period will last until the next Executive Council meeting to be held in 2015 during the 8th IAGG-ER congress in Dublin, Ireland.

During this period, Dr Rattan will be responsible for coordinating and promoting the biogerontologic research in Europe on behalf of the IAGG-ER, and will be planning and arranging the biological sessions during the next congress in Dublin.
